Our Story, Our Land, Our Enduring Commitment.

Our Business Overview

At Spring Valley Enterprises, we're immensely proud to run a high-performing sheep and beef farm that consistently ranks among the top in our sector. Our core business revolves around breeding and finishing our sheep and cattle, with a relentless focus on their health, quality, and efficient growth. We're known for our progressive approach to farming, meticulously using data-driven tools like Farmax and EID for precise livestock management.

We're always innovating and pushing boundaries! Key advancements include introducing the remarkable Highlander sheep breed, which has significantly boosted our scanning numbers and overall production. We also run a dedicated hogget breeding program to diversify our business and supply high-quality ewe lambs to other farms. Our dedication to quality shines through in our consistently superior-tasting meat, a quality that has been recognised with The Golden Lamb Awards.

Our Land

Since our beginning, Spring Valley Enterprises has grown from our original 540 hectares (Spring Valley) to collectively span 2,473 hectares across three distinct properties, all situated within 20km of each other near Masterton. These properties are a breathtaking collective of steep, rugged hills, unspoiled native bush, cultivatable flats, winding rivers, and vibrant wetlands. Spring Valley Enterprises is home to big New Zealand skies, where crystal-clear rivers wind through untouched native bush, creating a landscape that truly reflects our commitment.

  • Spring Valley: This flagship property, nestled in the Kaituna Valley, totals 1,580 hectares.

  • Maranui: Also in Kaituna, this 390-hectare property was originally owned by Matt's family, and we proudly integrated it into our operations in 2020.

  • Ratanui: Situated in the picturesque Mt Bruce area, this 503-hectare property was originally owned by Lynley’s family, and we purchased it in 2016.

Thanks to this diverse terrain and our strategically planted shelter belts, all our animals have ample space to roam naturally and freely, with plenty of natural shelter from the elements.
