Working with nature is truly at the absolute heart of how we farm here at Spring Valley Enterprises. We know this land intimately, having walked its contours for generations, and we deeply understand how precious and irreplaceable it is. Since 2002, we've been proactively dedicated to protecting our natural environment, seamlessly integrating productivity and sustainability as complementary, rather than competing, goals.

Over our time taking care of the land at Spring Valley, this how we're making a tangible difference, preserving and enhancing our unique ecosystem:

• Biodiversity Enhancement: We actively fence off sensitive native bush areas, vital wetlands, and pristine waterways, allowing them to regenerate naturally and expand the invaluable biodiversity that already thrives here. This isn't just conservation; it's regeneration.

• Carbon Sequestration: A significant achievement we're incredibly proud of is having locked away a full third of our land as carbon-sequestering native forest. This acts as a living carbon sink, contributing directly to a healthier planet.

• Waterway Protection: We continuously expand our biodiversity and waterway stock exclusion policies. A recent highlight is our monumental 8.5km river fencing project along the entire length of Ratanui, protecting its vital aquatic systems.

• Extensive Planting: As a core part of that river fencing project, over 35,000 native trees, shrubs, sedges, and grasses were meticulously planted along 42 hectares of waterway. This new, vibrant vegetation doesn't just help protect and sustain our pristine water quality; it actively provides a crucial eco-corridor for native birdlife and aquatic life forms, beautifully connecting with the Taraura Forest Park.
