Ethically Raised, Exceptionally Tasty.

Our Animals

At Spring Valley Enterprises, we carefully manage 5,000 Angus cattle stock units and 12,000 Highlander sheep. Thanks to our expansive hills, lush valleys, scattered native bush, and strategically planted shelter belts, all our stock have the freedom and space to roam naturally and contentedly. They thrive with ample shelter from the weather, sun, and even the very occasional snowfall, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

All our stock are 100% pasture-fed, reflecting our commitment to natural rearing and sustainable practices. We are proud to farm with the highest standards of animal welfare and ethical production, validated by our respected accreditations:

  • G.A.P (Global Animal Partnership) accreditation: This ensures we're consistently using best practice farming methods for superior animal welfare.

  • NZFAP+ (New Zealand Farm Assurance Plus) Gold accreditation: This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the highest standards across our entire farm operation.

  • RWS (Wools of NZ Responsible Wool Standards): This guarantees our responsible wool production, from healthy sheep to quality fibre.

These accreditations confirm that we're employing best practice farming methods, benefiting our animals, land, environment, our people, the industry, and our communities.

Innovation in Livestock Management

We pride ourselves on being leaders in innovative livestock management. We utilise sophisticated, data-driven tools like Farmax and EID for precise measurement and monitoring of our livestock, ensuring their optimal health, growth, and productivity.

Our innovations are at the forefront of the industry, including the introduction of the resilient Highlander sheep breed, which has significantly boosted our scanning numbers and overall production efficiency. We also run a strategic hogget breeding program aimed at diversifying our business and supplying high-quality ewe lambs to other farms, sharing our genetic advancements. Our dedication to quality is evident in our consistently superior-tasting meat, proudly recognised in The Golden Lamb Awards. Through intensive research projects, such as indoor lambing with triplet ewes, we've achieved significant increases in docking rates (260% vs. 190% in the paddock), demonstrating our commitment to reducing lamb loss and continuously improving efficiency.
